Ladytron fans should delight in the group's new album, Velocifero, out on Nettwerk. Velocifero is the band's fourth record, and follow up to 2005's Witching Hour. The album opens with all the magnitude of a continent size space station coming closer into view on "Black Cat," while consuming the senses increasingly with each passing moment. Certainly creating their own world right from the start, the futuristic electro-pop Ladytron forge even further with the catchy bright lights of the pulsating "Ghosts," following into the titanic industrial backdrop of "I'm Not Scared." The subterranean "Runaway," digs in with cyclical riffs and hypnotic repetition before heading away for the totemic inter-galactic messaging of "Seasons Of Illusions." Strange and alien, Velocifero, is a the context for future thought, and its most poignant message could be anyone of the aforementioned, though the undulating pressure cooker "They Gave You Heart, They Gave You A Name," stands clearest at the moment.
